LOIMER DENTAL PRACTICE – CONVERSION OF A HISTORIC PILLAR BARN
18.06.2026
Description
Location: Maria Saal, Completed 2021–2023, Project phases carried out: LPH 1–9
The brief was to convert an existing barn in the heart of the town centre into a dental practice. The design was guided by a respectful and sensitive approach to the existing structure and a desire to make the building’s character visible and tangible.
The interior was consistently glazed in the areas of the barn windows. Additional overhead glazing was introduced in the stairwell and waiting room areas. The barn windows and roof construction can be seen and experienced.
The new materiality, comprising exposed concrete, glass and a continuous monochrome floor, deliberately takes a back seat, thereby enhancing the presence of the historic building.
